Asilinn is dyeing

Asilinn has always been the fiber artist here. She's been knitting and crocheting for as long as I can remeber. Lately, she has also taken up spinning. For her birthday this year, we got her a bag of white merino roving and a bunch of koolaide packets. She is now completely hooked by the hand dyeing bug too. Here's her fun day of kool aide dyeing:

First she measured out small sections of the wool, then soaked it in vinegar and water. While that was going on she mixed the kool aide (without the suger) in mason jars.

After adding the soaked wool to the color, the jars are put in the microwave and heated for 3 minutes, then allowed to cool. The heating and cooling was repeated several times.

The wool was then pulled out and rinsed then hung to dry. The results:

Now she's got all those fun colors and more (she's been at it again since I took these pictures) to combine and spin into a truly unique yarn.
