Corn Husk Doll Tutorial pt1

My Mother makes the most beautiful corn husk dolls (not that I'm biased or anything) and has put together a photo-tutorial to teach this craft. I will be posting the complete tutorial here over the course of the week. Thanks, Mom for putting together such clear instructions and also to Martha for taking all the pictures.

To begin, you need corn husks, warm water and string. All husks must be soaked to soften.

Tear husk into strips. Make a ball by rolling the strips one way then the other till it is just a little smaller than a ping pong ball.

Sew a running stitch across a soft nice looking husk. This will be the face.

Place the ball in the husk with the top of the ball at the stitches. Make sure the smooth side of the husk is down that will be the outside.

Smooth the sides around then pinch it in to form the neck. Wrap string around a few times and tightly tie a knot.

Now, the first part is finished

-I remember how funny we thought it was to tell people calling for Mom that she'd come to the phone in a minute, "she's busy rolling heads"
